But this year, after discovering the pumpkins in store...I was just a little more excited about this holiday than before.
The plan was just to carve the pumpkin...but when my little nephews found out that I was doing it...yip, there was no chance...they were joining in. So we decided to throw a little Halloween dinner.
We carved the pumpkin and set him out on the front porch....
We ate burgers for dinner...
And a cake {that went slightly not as planned} for dessert...with the obligatory blood and guts inside...
And of course so many sweets...that these two little boys did not stop jumping up and down for hours....
And after years of seeing pics of Candy Corn on so many blogs, I finally found some in South Africa...
Seeing the absolute delight on my nephews faces...has made this one of my new favourite holidays...I definitely think we will be doing it again next year...bigger and better...
Even if it is just too keep me from putting up the Christmas tree...
Happy Halloween!
