Today is my little sisters birthday, and today a friends of mine, lays her sister to rest.
I wasn't planning on doing a post today...but knowing that while my family celebrates, another family is saying goodbye, got me thinking how very lucky we both are...
We got to have sisters.
Growing up, I think I took having a sister for granted...I wish I had sat back, and realised that I had a 'built in friend' for life...no matter what.
I am just so thankful, that as we got older together, I realised how lucky I am.
We have gotten to share all the important things in life together.
We still annoy each other. We still fight.
But we will always laugh together, and we can still just be together.
Her children are like my own, and she will love mine like they are hers.
To my friend Wan, today as I celebrate my sister, know that I will be thinking and praying for you and your sister. Celebrate each and every moment you both shared.
Today, and everyday, I will be forever grateful for my sister.
'She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she's the reason you wish you were an only child.' Barbara Alpert

Have you read Jane Green's latest? The Love Verb?
READ it. Read it read it!
You will love it.
This is the only reason that I would consider having another child. My sister and I are also extremelly close and how can I not give my daughter the opportunity to have that. It is also the reason that if asked I say I would not mind another daughter (I would actually prefer it) Not that I don't love my brother VERY much, but sisters are different.
@Shayne..nope I havent read, will look it up. Thanks!
@Pamela...i couldnt agree with you more :-)

Stunning post and so true. I have FOUR sisters, but are very close to only one of them.
I always feel that I miss out so much on not having siblings.
The older we get, the more we also appreciate our sisters.
