After our very long 16 hour, direct flight from Jozi to JFK, we finally arrived in America. When I say 'we', that would be myself and my fellow travel companions, Mr. and Mrs. Isacks...and the future Isacks twins. TF would be joining us in a few days time.
And even though, were shattered, and not smelling so good, excitement was at an all time high...until...we hit passport and security at JFK. And while we have all dealt with this before, the fact that they only had a few counters open...nearly drove us over the edge. But we made it through...with our sanity barely intact.
We caught the sky train to our connecting terminal, and when we caught small glimpses of the New York skyline...our excitement levels went right back up there...
We caught two internal flights..from JFK - Washington DC - and then finally to Chicago. Our home for the next three nights.
Flying into Chicago, and seeing Lake Michigan for the first time was mind blowing...it feels like you are flying into Durban. I could, and still cannot, get over the size of the lake. My mind kept on telling me it's the sea...completely incredible.
We then hopped on the train, which took us directly into town...and checked into our awesome hotel. Situated in downtown Chicago...it was just perfect, the room was massive...but best of all, it had a view to die for.
Giordanos, where we stuffed ourselves with the most delicious pizza ever...and drank on what was to be the first of many root beers...
Here I was half way around the world, in one of the most beautiful cities, with two of my oldest friends...about to start on the holiday of a lifetime...how unbelievably blessed am I.
