Auckland_Day 8: Rangi {beep} toto

On the morning of my Mom's 60th birthday...we boarded the ferry from Auckand Harbour and headed towards Rangitoto Island...
Now, as much as I love my Sister-in-law...today...that love was tested...in many, many ways. You see, it was her idea to head to the island, and climb to the top of Rangitoto..."It was just a a gentle hike"...she said..."and the views will be amazing"...
Note-to-self: Don't ever believe her...ever again...
Rangitoto, is a volcanic island situated just off Auckland city, and you can basically see it from where ever you go in Auckland. You have to take the ferry across, and then spend the day exploring the island. The island is covered in black rock, the hardened lava, which is pretty cool...and the views get better and better as you make your way up...
The minute we got there, we explored a little and then started making our way up to the top...
...and we made it...or should I say, I just made it. Oh my word, was it hectic. And yes the views were pretty cool...but this little volcano mountain thingy...is now lovingly referred to as Rangi&#$toto...

After taking the ferry home, we decided to get dinner at one of our most favourite places - Fast Eddies. And the reason, we love it so much, is because it holds such special, special memories for us. You see, not only does it have the best fish 'n chips, this was one of my Mom-in-Love's favorite places. So every time we go to New Zealand, this is a must stop for us...a little nod to this most awesome lady.

PS. Monya, you are totally forgiven for taking us up that mountain... :-)
