Auckland_Day 6: My favourite day.

We woke to brilliant blue skies. When you haven't seen the sun for a few days, it's amazing how badly you miss it. It was so good to feel the sun on my back. It didn't last long...in fact it, was a typical Auckland day...raining one minute and sun shining the next.
But today was a great day...if I was forced to pick my favourite day of the holiday...this would probably be it.

Once again...all six of us, piled into the car...and headed north. Our destination....Matakana Village.
The little village is situated about an hour north of Auckland, surrounded by wine farms, regional parks and is just so pretty. It reminds me a lot of the little towns in and around Cape Town, and places like Dullstroom.

We had one stop along the way...Ascension Wine Farm. We literally just popped our heads in, too take a look around, before hitting the road again...
And then we hit Matakana...just so pretty...
We stumbled across this gorgeous little Anglican Church...how pretty are the colours...
And then right in the middle of this picturesque little town...the toilets look like this...
We had a picnic lunch at the Matakana Farmers Market...just as the rain clouds started coming in...
We took a short drive to Morris & James Pottery...
And then we headed too Goat Island...where we took in the views from the top...
...and then headed down to the beach...
Can you see how the weather changes so quickly?
On the way home, we stopped off for our obligatory ice-cream...
...a stop over at an art gallery, curio shops...
...and a very last stop off in another little town, Warkworth.
...and then finally we headed home...for a night of burgers on the BBQ.
I absolutely loved today...so, so much fun...
