Auckland_Day 1: A Reunion.

After two 11 hour flights, an eight hour stop over in Hong Kong...and eight very long years....we were finally all together again. Even as I type this, the tears well up. Those first few minutes were so surreal, it was actually happening, but it didn't feel real at all. There was running and hugging, I think some screaming and definitely many tears.

I had played this day over in my head so many times before...and it was just like I had imagined. And seeing TF reunited with his sister...there are no words to describe this...
If I am being honest, I was little nervous to see my niece and nephew again. They last time we saw them, they were so little, and I was so worried that it would be like meeting strangers for the first time...and I knew that would break our hearts a little. How stupid I was...it was like we had never been apart. I will remember those first few minutes for the rest of my life...
We spent the rest of the day, opening Christmas gifts, going to the mall for some Christmas shopping for the kids, having lunch...and just soaking up every amazing little moment. I think the words 'I cant believe we/you are here' were uttered a few million times that day...
Such an incredible, incredible day.
We were finally together after all of these years.

And it was just the beginning of an incredible, emotional and soul fulfilling few weeks...

I'm curious as to how they reacted to your crazed photograph taking :) U and me are so similar ito that, but those around us are so used to it!

Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip.

I can't imagine not seeing family for 8 years - it must be so hard on him. When is the next trip planned? :)
