The one that sealed the deal.

So, as most of you know, I am a Christmas nut. I absolutely adore everything about it…from the carols {yes, I have even considered going to the Boney M concert}, to the crazy busy shopping malls. I truly believe that it is the most wonderful time of the year…

Growing up, Christmas was a big deal in our house…so I was lucky enough to grow up in a family where everything about the season was celebrated. We even believed in Santa for a long time…maybe a little too long :-)

But it was today…26 years ago…that I was completely and utterly sold on everything Christmas.
It was the 7 December, 1985.
It was my Dad’s birthday, and we were celebrating by going out for dinner and to see a movie.
The restaurant: The Spur, Greenacres Mall, Port Elizabeth. The move: Santa Claus, The Movie.

And that was it…

I remember watching that movie, and being in such awe. It was pure magic. That one little movie, sealed the deal for me.

Too this day, it has, and always will be, my favourite movie of all time.

Monday evening, while flipping through the channels, we stumbled upon it. And even though it’s way old now, I was once again transported into this magical world. At one point, I was even a little teary…way too many emotions came flooding back….or maybe it’s just this time of year…I am always an emotional wreck anyway.

The hubby bought me a copy of the movie, and I think it’s going to be a family tradition of ours, to gather round the TV, once a year, and watch my most magical movie ever…

PS. A very, very Happy Birthday to my Daddy. Thank you, too you and Mom for making every single Christmas a magical one...

Christmas is a magical time. I get emotional too a lot of the time. I know it's not supposed to be a bloke thing. Movies and especiallysumusic can get me worked up.

'especially some music' I meant to say. Apologies!

Love Christmas. And I love Christmas songs and movies, everything about it! Except the mad rush at the shops!

I still want to go see Boney M but as it turns out they are playing over the days we're at our most busy so we're going to have to miss it. I'm quite upset over that because I missed the Beach Boys last December too.

We were also channel hopping on Monday and my eldest watched the movie, it's an awesome Christmas movie :)
