A mag hag.

That’s me.

I spend money, I don’t have, on way too many magazines, I don’t need.

The word, divorce might have even cropped up, when my husband discovered that I had kept every single issue of the Garden & Home since 2001…it was 2007. Yip, it didn’t go down well.

You see the problem is the home and décor magazines…I cannot walk past the latest edition without throwing it in my basket…

And now…I have a new favourite. Country Life.
Who would have thought…just a few *cough read ten cough* years ago, I was paging through the pages of the Cosmo…now it’s the Country Life that gets me so excited, that I am busy ordering a subscription.

But seriously, for those of you that don’t read it…and love discovering new places in South Africa…you need to get your hands on this magazine.

For example…did you know, that there is a little town in KwaZulu-Natal, Luneburg, that is completely, authentically German? It's been around for 150 years, and its basically like living in Germany, with a South African twist...how cool is that? I had no idea this place even existed!

Mel, I see in the next issue there is a feature on heritage in McGregor.

Oh...and the recipes are too die for.

There are so many fascinating places and stories out there, and I plan on making sure I see as many of them as I can...yes I will!

Just got my hands on the latest issue...now all I need is a cup of hot tea...

So photography and magazines are your passion? I stopped buying magazines when I added up the amount I was spending monthly. Now I buy them when on holiday...and enjoy them as much as before.

I am fast turning into a Mag Hag too! In SA - with the food prices being so much higher - I *never* *EVER* bought magazines - especially since we had kids, since there were so many other things we needed our money for - i.e. food. ha ha. Here in the UK the mags are making their way into my basket a little more often... (don't even get me started on the catalogs!), my favourite at the moment is Ideal Home, and then there's also Country Homes & Interiors...and Horse and Hound (still a horsey girl at heart) and then there about a gazillion others that I'm trying very hard to resist right now. Funnily enough Country Life is the one mag in SA that I *did* used to pick up and flip through in the queue at check-out. Nice one.

I was never really a magazine person except for Food and Home - I have every issue from about 2005. Yikes.

I have also recently started subscribing to Ideas. Love it.

Haha my mom loves that magazine. I used to be the same, but I've cured myself somehow.

Why Thank you Hayley... a magazine for me to match my newly discovered fuddy-duddyness (see todays post)
I haven't bought mags for years... since I had kids, apart from baby magazines. But... the other day, i bought The Cosmo... and realised that i've outgrown it. 36 ways to give a blowjob? How to seduce him on the dance floor? Ummmm... no thank you!!!
Will have to give this mag a try... cos I had no idea that such a german town existed in SA either :0)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Thanks Kirsty, you just made my day. Burst out laughing at your comment.

Hayley, thanks for the new mag idea, I also love magazines and am moving more towards animal mags and National Geographic.

My mom buys this mag and so I have read it and agree it is a lovely magazine.

I love buying magazines but rarely find the time to read them properly!

My mom has Your Familys from the 80s :)

Country Life is my favorite magazine - who reads Fair Lady and Cosmo anyway? I think the guys probably peek into them in CNA they are so scared of girls they have to see what's inside...

PS - Finally got to coment on your post, I'm getting clever that way xxx

LOL love it - I don't think you're bad because you read them, right?

I don't subscribe to anything but I do buy Ideas if something catches my eye.

And D brings me Oprah and House and Leisure from work sometimes (I don't actually know why they get them?) - I love House and Leisure. Hmmmm. Just to dream :)

Oh I love Country Life but buy none regularly. Rather if something catches my eye. And like Marcia I am an Ideas fan

I have quite a collection. I think a 6 year uninterrupted subscription is awesome!! I still get my House & Leisure online but Country Living looks great... but maybe too much for the heart if I can't go to the places I read about?

I think I'll still look it up online!

Wait until you get an iPad - you can buy lots of the international mags you want and it's stored on your iPad so "nobody" can see you went shopping...
