Back in time on a Saturday afternoon.

Who would have ever thought, that I would be bogging about the Bunny Park...well certainly not me!

Saturday, my sister asked me to join her and her littlest for a few hours at the Bunny Park. For those that aren't from these parts...the Bunny Park is kinda of a landmark in good 'ol Benoni. If you have spent any time here as a kid, you have no doubt been there....every kid in Benoni has. It's a massive park, that is home to, you guessed it...bunnies...hundreds of them, which run free, as well as many other animals...one huge petting zoo.

The park has been around since the year dot...and has kinda seen better days...

Well that's what I thought...
I hadn't been...well...since I was kid...so I will admit, I wasn't exactly excited to go. But I did. Armed with packets of lettuce and carrots, and the thought of spending a good few hours with my nephew...I joined my sister and her best friend, for a quick walk around the park.
I was so surprised and impressed at the condition of the place...I hadn't even taken my camera with, thinking that it would be a waste of time...these are taken with my phone...

It has been so well maintained...the old playground equipment is still up and working, plus they have added new equipment. The grounds are immaculate...it is the middle of winter, so it was very dry....but that's a highveld winter for you.
My nephew had a ball...he did not stop running from the time we got there...the old school playground stuff still rocks...no matter how old it or we get...
Who knew, we would have such good time...certainly not me. Such a fun few hours...and best of all...the park is still free...

PS. I didn't manage to get one picture of the millions of bunnies at the Bunny Park...go figure...

Don't complain about the dry winters. I grew up in Cape Town and after a few days of nonstop rain things get a little dreary! Love your pictures and boy when was the last time I saw a rondomtalie! Nothing like that in modern day parks anymore - too many potential lawsuits! LOL.

Aw man! Love the bunny park! I practically grew up there, and so did my son.

Isn't it amazing when you go somewhere and you're not expecting great things and it turns out being awesome?

Love your pics Hayley. x

I've actually been there. My folks took us when I was about 5. I would never have remembered except that we still have the photos and my mom still talks about the bunny that bit my brother finger.

OMW! We lived just down the road from the Bunny Park. I spent ages trying to catch the baby bunnies, terrorizing the guinea pigs, playing on the old tractors, getting chased by geese... Also had my finger bitten. But by the grumpy old donkey, not a bunny ;-)
