my nativity set.

I have been on the hunt for the perfect nativity set forever.

You see, it had to be just perfect. Plain. Simple. Beautiful. And most importantly, I wanted one that I can add to, so I can collect a piece each year.

Last year, while blog hopping, I saw the Willow Tree nativity set on some ones blog. It could not have been more perfect. And even better we get Willow Tree stuff here, in South Africa. So I thought I was sorted. Not really. Every single shop I went to, did not stock it. They had every other item, just not the Nativity Set. I knew if I asked them to order it for me, it would just be too expensive. I eventually gave up and decided to look for an alternative.

Up until two weeks ago….

During our weekly family Sunday lunch, my Dad walks out with a box under each arm. You guessed it….he had ordered my sister and I a nativity set each.

I could not believe it. I literally jumped around like a five year old!

He had heard me groaning and whining about how I can never find the set, so he ordered it through a shop that he goes to often. So he does listen to me sometimes :-) or most probably just to get me to shut up.

Thanks Mom and Dad! I am so in love with it. Don't you think its beautiful?

I now just need to find the perfect spot for it.

Awww, how cute for your Dad to spoil his girls :-)

My Mom has this nativity set, I love how Mary is holding baby Jesus instead of him in a manger...the whole set is beautiful!

I say this set when I was in PE at the beg of Nov and it was all I could do to stop myself from buying it - it was SO expensive.

I think next yeari'm going to have to.

It is stunning. As you say, simple, beautiful and also timeless.

Lucky girl you are.

It's very beautiful. Something like that in my house, wouldn't really work. Joseph would be flying a combat helicopter before I know it and Mary and Jesus would be subjected to countless airlifting rescues from some warring hotspot. The sheep and donkey would no doubt be loaded onto Old McDonalds truck and when I look again, they'll all have disappeared!

I LOVE it! I have that nativity set! My mother in law buys me a little every year! It is so beautiful and is, like you said, great to be able to add to.
I'm happy to mail you pieces if you get in a bind ever :)
