desperate times.

I did it. I never thought I would ever do it, but I did. I am still in shock, but I am recovering slowly. I am slowly coming in terms with what I did.
I used box hair dye {hang my box dyed head in shame}
Yes, I know....shocking! But girls, desperate times, call for desperate measures. And my roots were screaming for help, and over the past few weeks there was just no time to get to the hairdresser. So, I sucked up my pride and headed over to good 'ol Clicks and spent about and hour just staring at the fifty million type of boxes on the shelves....seriously, how many colours, shades, brands are there?
We {my sister and me} finally decided on a box, and followed the instructions to the second. And what do you know, it didn't turn out half bad! We even threw in a few highlights...how reckless are we?
And even better, it cost a quarter of my usual hair bill. So, I am no longer blonde, and really, really dark, but I am thinking I might just stick to this box thing...why has no one told me about this before.

PS. If I could find the camera and the card reader {in one of the million boxes we still have to unpack}, I would post some pics of my newly box dyed hair. Maybe next time..

The only thing with box colour is that it doesn't last as long. But the conditioner they give u works a charm and is the nicest i've ever used!

I have been a 'box-dye-er' for more years than I care to mention...and have indulged in even more colours!!

Now use the money you saved and buy some shoes and a bag and you good to go!

Cant wait to see the new look.

*gasp* I'm shocked Hayley! But I can understand...it is a lot cheaper!

I used to use box dye for a while but it just ruined my hair. I ended up having to go to the salon and I dont think I can go back now. Besides, at the time I had so much hair that it took two boxes and my husband just to get the job done!

Hayley - imagine the pain every time I have to fork out $300 (YES, that's R3,000!!!) for a cut and HALF-A-HEAD of highlights here in New York. It kills me every time. But I've come to realize that if you want to be blonde, some things are non-negotiables...

Ugh!

Not gonna lie. When I do dye my hair (which isn't often) I always use the box stuff.

Of course I cut my own hair, so you really shouldn't go by what I do!

Glad it worked out!!

I'm also dying to see the pics, when you find your camera. But my mom uses box dye all the time and her hair is fine. The only problem is when you go dark, then you want to go lighter. Then you NEED a salon. Otherwise it's fine. I may even use a box dye myself and save on money. I'm scared, but I may just do it.

I used a box dye the other day and it went well. I was scared, because I am a hair salon snob.

Now that mine worked well, i may also stick to the box thing - MUCH cheaper

I dye my own hair sometimes too, but it's true that it doesn't last long. That drives me crazy, but I just can't afford to go to the hairdresser every six weeks.

For blondes I think it is more difficult. I have been box colouring for years for 2 reasons, the cost, but above all else only box colour does not burn the sh.... out of my scalp and I dont sit in a salon for hours and hours and hours. But yes, we need a picture.

I just went back to my natural hair color because the blonde was way too expensive to keep up. :) I should have done the box thing!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Isn't Vashti just the sweetest to send me those candles? I love them!

I'm trying to identify, but I dont' dye my hair (now there's a shock - no box or salon dye!), so don't really have a clue ;-)

Glad you're happy with the outcome though.
