would you say hi.

Over the Christmas period, I happened to bump into a blogger not once but twice, here in my little town. Now, the thing is, she has no clue who I am. I know she does not read my blog. I read hers {obviously}, I have commented a few times and she has replied, but that's about it.

When I spotted her, I was about to run up and give her a big wet one on the cheek, like we were old friends, that's when my brain kicked in and stopped me. Then I just sat there staring at her for what seemed like forever {freaky, I know}, but it was like seeing a celebrity...you know, when you feel like you know these people, but they are in fact strangers.

When I told my husband, he was like..."just go over and say hi!"....men, they just don't get it! Or is it me? Would you have gone over and said hi? I would love it if the people who read my blog came over and introduced themselves {Mom, that does not include you}. I was just scared that she would think it's a bit stalkerish {not a proper word, I know}...

So, would you have gone over?

Spill girl! Was it Teria? Or her sis, Mel?

Hmm, I would have certainly hesitated but I think, given enough time to pontificate, I would have gone over in a very *non-stalkerish* kind of way and introduced myself.

He-he :-) It was Sis Mel. I didnt recognise her at first, but then I saw the kids and recognised them. You see I even feel bad talking about them here....still feels to stalkerish :-)
The more I think about it, I am sure she wouldnt have minded hey?

that is funny! I have done the same and I did not say hi, but now I wish I had. I think as long as it's in a calm way and not a "oh my gosh, this is so cool. i read your blog" jump up and down kind of way (which would be creepy and stalker-ish!) then it's ok! We all certainly open ourselves up to this by putting our whole lives in the world wide web!

Hi kylie, me too, kinda regretting it now...but yet I know if i saw her again, I still would probably not go over.

I totally think you should pop to her blog and link her to this post - she will think its hilarious! I know I would!!

Someone stopped me in a store 45mins from my home once and told me they recognised me from my blog. I was slightly taken aback but then again...I am not Tertia or Sister Mel so I didnt really think anyone outside my regulars read it!

Hayley,

Once while visiting a nearby town for a meeting, I drove about twenty minutes to the First Baptist Church in Williston, SC to meet David Richardson, author of "God & Life" (I think you are a reader). We'd never met before, but had commented on one another's blogs.

So, I guess since I've driven an additional 30 miles to find a fellow blogger, I'd probably go across the street to say hi!

Somehow, I don't think David would appreciate me planting a wet kiss on his cheek . . .

Hey Brazen, you see, if I knew what you looked like, you would have people like me giving you a big wet one in the streets :-)

Heather, i am now thinking maybe I should of.

I think you right Emily, but knowing me I would have been a mumbling idiot and just made a complete fool of myself :-)

Hayley said...

Okay Joanne, I am SO expecting that greeting when we meet one day :-)

Initially I thought yes I would - mean I am from PE and everyone says hi to everyone whether you know them or not, but then the more I thought about it the more I thought I would probably have done as you did - and then wished I had said hi!

But I think until you are in that situation you might not know.

I've met a couple people that read my blog and it was weird, but cool too. Of course, it wasn't just complete strangers either. I mean, they were strangers to me, but they knew my pastor and visited our church. (They found my blog through the churches blog.)

I think I would say hi if I saw someone, but I guess it would depend on who.

i love it if someone who reads my blog came over and said hi. i think it is a compliment.

(hint, hint hayley. will you pop in to my shop when you are in benoni?...)

my sister-in-law was once somewhere with her kids, when she heard someone say 'there is that little girl from the blog'. that was my blog she was talking about! wow!

i think we sould arrange an open-invitation MOB (meeting of bloggers) this year in gauteng. i think it would be so cool!
