We are back from an awesome weekend in Durban. To be honest Durb's is not my favourite place in South Africa, not because it's a horrible place, but the humidity is enough to kill you....I do not do heat well. But besides the unbearable humidity, we had a blast!
Friday night it was just the husband and I. The plan was not to spend any time in the malls, but the mall in Umhlanga is amazing...so guess what...that's where we spent the evening, it's that big....so much so for Joburg and Cape Town doing everything better, that mall has to be the best in South Africa.
Okay enough of that, Saturday morning we just headed out for breakfast and met up with the family, who had been driving since four in the morning....poor things. The rest of the weekend was spent at the beach or eating...which we do so well. We had a photo shoot on the beach Sunday morning....cannot wait to see the photo's!
Of course, the weekend was not without drama...
We planned to leave an hour before our check-in time at the airport....plenty of time....that gives us an extra half an hour to play with. I am packing the car and guess what.....I lock the keys in the car....can you believe it? You can imagine, panic starts to kick in, my husband wants to practically divorce me, my sister thinks it is the funniest thing to happen, I wanna burst into tears, my mom is freakin out and no one in the hotel can help. We phone the car rental company, they don't keep spare keys...hello? So my Dad, who has remained completely calm the whole time, has contacted the AA, and they are sending a locksmith out, but only in about thirty minutes...not enough time for us though.
We decide that we have to fly home, my folks will bring down our cases, when they come to us next week...that means no make-up and no hair straightener for over a week...panic sets in again...but there is nothing I can do.
Get to the airport, and guess what our plane has been delayed by fifteen minutes, at this stage any amount of minutes counts. We tell our long sad story to the manager at our check-in counter, who unbelievably, says that she will do everything to help us.
So we sit and wait...and wait....we finally hear from my Dad, who is already on his way. The AA unlocked the car in a matter of seconds.
Can you believe it, he made it in time! We managed to get onto our plane, with all our luggage...I am still amazed at how we pulled that one off!
And of course to round off the day, we got home to two defrosted fridges...yes, we decided to switch off all the plugs before we left...not thinking that the fridge use those plugs too... stupid!
So, another family holiday goes by and something crazy happens...I suppose it would not be right unless everything went smoothly hey?
PS. Will post some photo's later.
