it's a dogs life.

To tell you that we have been through about a million dog beds, would be a complete under statement. And we have tried every kind there is, and every single one has ended up in shreds.

But even so, we still decided to go out and get the dogs new beds...in this case baskets. You see the family descends in a few weeks, and we need to get the dogs into their own space before they arrive...yes, our dogs need their own space.

We think they like them, because this is all we saw of them this weekend...
Lets see how long these ones last...

PS. If you are wondering what the orange stain on Elvis' top lip is, that's pumpkin pie batter, that my husband decided to feed our dogs...he does not usually look like that.

we had shreds too! yours look happy, and maybe the wicker won't taste good, if they get tempted.
lucy sleeps in a crate at night, she actually likes it, with a fleece pad that she chews on like a pacifier.
but for during the day, i finally hit upon a crib mattress ($30 and a couple of fitted sheets & easy to clean). it is in front of our floor to ceiling windows,so she lounges there and protects us from trucks & squirrels & the mail carrier :)

I love the idea of the crate...i think my husband might just leave me if I did that to his dogs :-) or put me in the crate :-)

It is amazing how a new bed makes a dog's day. Nice pictures, Im missing having a bulldog!

Thanks Heather, we think they are pretty cute as well :-)

You areright Keith, when we got the bulldogs, they actually told us that they NEED to have at least three areas that they consider 'bed' areas.

Cool pics of the dogs Hayley. I can tell you now that those won;t last too long. Elvis might not eat or chew his as that takes energy and effort which is not big in Elvis world. As for Pheebs, well the countdown is on!

As everybody knows, Elvis IS the King but in this case he mostly refuses to leave the building...

Your dogs are too, too cute. My mom wants a bulldog, it's all she's ever wanted. Are they a lot of work? Do you have to clean out their folds? And I've heard they fart a lot, is that true?
Hope those beds do the trick!

nice beds! and if they don't last, you can get some on the side of the road in boksburg, they are made of tyres with a bottom pop-rivited on. not very pretty, but sturdy....

Thanks Kitty. When we got them, we were told that they are high maintenance dogs, but it has not been that bad. We bath them normally, andthen just clean out the folds then, so its not that hectic.
Our male is very moody though. Oh and they told us that they would chew alot, but they havent. And they dont move around a lot so, we enjoy that part. The only big problem, is that they over heat quickly, so we need to keep them calm, so we dont take them for long walks, mind you I have seen other bulldogs doing it, so maybe its just ours.
They are awesome dogs though....and yes they do fart alot :-)

Thanks, I'll let my mom know. I guess she should find a reputable breeder, did you get yours from a breeder? Sorry for all the questions! I must say, they really, really are gorgeous!

No problem at all Kitty, any excuse to talk about our dogs. We got the female from a pet shop, but she has something else in her, we think boxer.
The male (in the photo) is from a breeder, next time round we would only go to a breeder, so would highly recommend it.They gave us lots of tips on food etc, so that helped a lot.

Only in Boksburg hey Jacki?
Sounds perfect though!

Just to put the record straight, only Phoebe farts. Elvis is way to cultured....

The breeder is in Pretoria (better known as Tshwane) and they are called Cleve Bulldogs. Elvis`s Mom was the Northern Transvaal Champion (thankfully he was raised a Western Province Puppy, hence the class).
