books, books and books.

I love books. I love having books around the house, I just wish I would read more. The only time I really read is in bed at night, which means that after one page, the sand man comes calling.

My all time favourite fiction books are Ken Follett's, Pillars of the earth and World without end. I absolutely love these books.

I am currently halfway though The Shack, which is just amazing. I am so enjoying it. I just need to get it finished soon, because...I got this today...

Yes, I know I am way behind and have not read any in the series, ridiculous I know. I am very excited, even the lady at the book shop said that she will see be back for the next in the series.

But the biggest news of the week, no the month is, that Nigella, has a new recipe book out. And not just any recipe book, a Christmas one. I cannot explain to you how excited I am. Two of my favourite things, Christmas and Nigella in one book, can you get better than that? I nearly passed out when I spotted it in the book store, had to literally drag myself out.

It's no doubt the perfect Christmas present for me (hint* hint*), the only thing is, there is no way I can wait that long, not a chance. And of course, what is the point of getting a Christmas recipe book on Christmas, you need it to prepare for Christmas, right?
That's it. I need to get it soon...I mean I AM going to need it for my Christmas preparations, so everyone else will benefit. I am such a good person, always thinking of everyone else :-)

Hayley, books are also one of my favourite past times. I have books scattered all of the house.

I often have at least 2 books on the floor next to the bed. Do not laugh at this, but I love reading through recipe books. ave you read Zhoozsh! by Jeremy Mansfied. It is a cook book with a story related to his and his wife's life. Really a fun read.

Anyway I hope you get the recipe book you are wanting!

Like you need any excuse to prepare for xmas Hayley. But being the good person you are, you better go and get the book if you haven't already. I look forward to testing the preparations!!!

Hi Keith, I have Zhoozsh, and some of those recipes are awesome. I haven't bothered to read the story attached, just enjot the food.

Hi there

Just to say - don't lat anything rush you through The Shack.

You only get to read it for the first time once.

Savour the experience.

Well, that's how it was for me - hope you loving it as much

First off: I loathe Nigella. She irritates the crapola out of me. No doubt the girl can cook and is a looker/has great boobs but GOOD GRIEF, she is annoying.

But---back to Twilight....I have seen on SO MANY BLOGS over the last 6 mnths references to this series. Please let us know what its like....

@simply mel - sorry but nigells is s treat. her cookbooks read like prose, she's honest & funny & has great taste. her forever summer book might make you change your mind. of course we here in the states don't see her very often, so maybe her tv persona is off-putting. just give her books a chance OK? i just got to meet giada and she's more wonderful than i anticipated. i wasn't especially a fan, but she was warm & accessible, even laughed @ herself.

hayley, sorry for the rant! i love nigella.
i tracked down your blog because i want to send you a link for your DH for christmas shopping. but since i see he lurks & even comments here, please write to my email, and i'll send the link.
quit ruining surprises, francois :)

Have you ever heard of Margaret Feinberg? She is a thirty-something writer with some really great things to say. This year, I read her books "The Organic God" and "The Sacred Echo." I highly recommend her to you as one of today's young writers with a bright future.
